“Personal transformation can and does have global effects. As we go, so goes the world, for the world is us. The revolution that will save the world is ultimately a personal one.” Marianne Williamson

Gilbert is off to Orlando to work with Universal Studios, Brian is working on marketing, operations, networking event 9/20/08 and rising author Ty Bennett. John Fowler is deep into the program development and networking for our September launch and John Exley just posted his first 'emerging leaders voices' interview today; we will be starting an intern program and are looking for those great players... talk to us.
Thursday night Nextvoice247 Presents conducted a teleconference with Kevin Hall the author of the new book Aspire! and John Assaraf the co-author of the book The Answer.
The call itself was an amazing and inspiring exchange by two great thought leaders. And they lived up to their ends of the bargain by making many people think - myself included.
There were two areas covered that resonated with many of the callers:
1. Kevin spoke of the power of words and the people often associated with them when he quoted Jim Rohn "You are the average of the five people you hang out with the most."
2. John related his insight into his personal vision board and his VIRTUAL mastermind group - which included some of histories greatest leaders and thinkers.
The critical part of the conversation came after the call. When many people began to immediately discuss the five people who make up the average of their identities as well as who would be in their virtual mastermind group.
One or two statements spark two or three conversations, which spark scores of actionable change targets. This is the power of the two speakers and these two books:
Configure your thoughts to deliver and visualize your dreams. And find the language and words that articulate and deliver the action. Combine them both to get the results.
You do the math - virtual or not - it's a lot of potential for big things to happen.
Yesterday a friend of mine called to compare notes on what we were working on. Kind of a king of the hill for the private business owner. We went back and forth. We talked about how many challenges leaders were having in achieving there objectives, developing people, and at the end of the day - feeling as if they had accomplished something. I reminded him that is what we are supposed to be doing - teaching, coaching and filling the gaps for the emerging leader and entrepreneur.
We talked about a few other business issues. Solved a few world issues. And then we promised to get back in touch next week.
An hour later I received this email.
"Okay, so here is what I am really doing today. Feeling good though. You'll get the picture." Attached was the video.
Procrastination is deferring until tomorrow what should be done today.
What are waiting for? What have you not done for yourself or others? Are you gettin' stuff done or are you getting YOU done right?
Don't hesitate. Answer the question. Then get after your development.
It's is Wednesday kids and you know what that means! YES it’s time to answer your questions. Remember we answer your questions you send in via
email or upload videos every Wednesday. So, if you missed the opportunity to send in a question this week, you can round up
some questions. for next week

She interviewed the folks at Nextvoice247 and we will be providing more of that information soon when the video is posted. Dafna's goal is to build collective stories of communities of people making change and putting that change to work and that work on film. We are humbled to be a part of it.
I woke up thirsty in the middle of the night. I reached for a glass and filled it with an abundance of fresh water. While I stood there, quenching my thirst, I looked at my computer to see what was going on.
An email from my favorite charity - charity:water - started by a young guy in New York who has made it his mission to provide clean water for everyone, one well, and one glass at a time.
So on this #followfriday in the land of Twitter or for the raving fans of Facebook, here's a reminder of just another lead(er) we should follow and a deed we memorialize.
There are not many times that I let words define or confine me. They are often descriptors, adjectives to the person I am.
As I have read more of the book Aspire by Kevin Hall, and Speed of Trust by Stephen M.R. Covey I have come to realize something I already knew but could never find, ironically enough, the right word to communicate what I did or desired to do. Kevin's book teaches us the richness of the layers of words and the profound impact they can have in finding your purpose and at their very core are even more hidden meanings that bring even stronger richness and fulfillment to the word and its use.
Through Stephen I have learned that trust is the beginning of all things relational. And that whether it is personal or professional it need not be interpreted as weak but as solid and a foundation to which all human interaction begins.
Words have meaning. So when I hear people describe themselves as they do in this video, there are often biases as code for lost, bootstrapping, renegade. I see it as just one layer of the foundation of many words and actions and ultimately results.
You tell me. Is this how you see yourself or your compatriots? Offer up a definition of your own. Trust me, but trust me fast, there will be no judgments - you have my word on it.
And btw - thanks to Brian Tomkins for bringing me art in words.
It's is Wednesday kids and you know what that means! YES it’s time to answer your questions. Remember we answer your questions you send in via

This weekend I was doing a lot of research on Creativity, and the origins of… Well my search landed me on the TED site which I simply adore, and while there I was picking up on an overall theme that is really resonating with me… Collaborative Creativity. We talk about Social Media and how it’s disrupting virtually every industry - however; UNLESS you are doing your research, one would not think to equate the Ideation process into the fold of change. WELL things are changing, and for the better… Here is what I am thinking about…
1. The ability for people to connect and rally around a central cause is easier that it has ever been - spawning a new creative process for coming up with solution based ideas. 2. The collective mining of content is simplified. It’s much easier for individuals to share content, and it’s a LOT faster… This is critical to the “idea formation” process. 3. Corporations are going to have to be able tp take a different road to innovative greatness - Consumers are no longer waiting for industry to think of, produce, and distribute goods and services, they are taking the “bull by the horns” and doing it themselves…
So as Creative People, “Thinkers”, we have to begin to posture ourselves differently. In the very near future (if you own some type of creative, thinking, development company) the ideation process will not be reserved to a select few people… It will be “Open Source Ideation” - and the companies who can adapt to this will win.
In another life, I interviewed at least two people a week to support the growth of our business. Some weeks, even if I didn’t have positions opened, I still believed in interviewing top-level talent because you never know when you will run across that perfect fit and superstar. Aside from the obvious advice of looking your interviewer in the eye, dress appropriately, spit out your gum and being friendly - I thought I would provide a few pointers of things that most successful job-seekers are able to do in a job interview:
1. Live up to your promised skills. Chances are, you got an interview because someone already thought you had the skills they were looking for. So the challenge in the interview isn't to outline all the things you can do or list them out verbally, it's to give as much proof as you can about all the things you said you could do and prove that you were not just exaggerating. Be specific. Use both qualitative and quantitative support. 2. Be part of the culture. The most important part of any interview is usually what you could call a "chemistry check." It's no surprise that people hire others that they like and feel they (or their teams) can work with. So do your best to understand their culture and show authentic ways that you might fit in - because ultimately, you'll likely be hired based on far more than your skills alone. So, as I have said before, know what music they are playing before you walk in the door. 3. Have ideas about their business. Nothing is worse than interviewing someone who has no idea what a business does, or what the products are. Don't make that mistake and do your homework – use the web, your social network, ASK QUESTIONS. Walk in with ideas about their business, but be careful not to cross the line and give an impression that you think you know more about their business than they do. 4. Demonstrate you'll contribute quickly. No one wants to hire someone who will take 3 months to learn the business before doing anything - especially in this environment. However you can do it, you need to show the ways that you can hit the ground running and make an immediate impact. You can talk about similar situations or why certain attributes you have give you the capability of being a team player a contributor. 5. Make the person hiring you look smart. Anytime you are hired, the person who does it puts their personal reputation behind you. So you need to make them comfortable that they will look smart within their company for hiring you. Remember, it’s about the team from the very start. 6. Leave them with something shareable. If you managed to impress your interviewer enough for them to consider you seriously for the job, the first thing they will usually need to do is convince several others within the organization to either bring you back for a second interview, or hire you right away. So be sure to point them to a website or a blog or some sort of content online that introduces you to those you didn't meet, and reinforce your interviewer’s view that you may be good for the job. Just make sure your web presence is in “good shape”. Or simply leave them with strong evidence of your accomplishments that the hiring manager can correlate to the position they are filling.
These are basic pointers, but if you nail these six, you are more than half way there.
One
of the most profound things I learned about Social Media when I was
first getting involved was from Scotch Tape™ - Nothing “deep” just
authentically… Relevant. Scotch Tape™ has two MAJOR characteristics…
1. Transparent 2. Sticky
Social Media, especially Twitter, is much the same way… The more “transparent” you become, the “stickier” your presence.
